Description

The AXIS S-Series – Front Wing

Spitfire

Imagine a dedicated surf foiling wing, that lets you foil waves like a surfer would. If you’re anything like us, you’ve been dreaming of an effortless turning wing, that inspires confidence when dropping in, that has a gentle, predictable easy lift up onto foil. A foil that not only handles breaches but encourages them. No wave is the same, sometimes you need a turn of speed, and on another you need to slow right down but stay on foil. A wing you can just forget about and get on with the business of enjoying yourself. Of course, that wing has to be capable of pumping you back out to do it all again and again. The wait is over, meet the AXIS Spitfire.
You’ll recognise it by its distinctive elliptical outline, straight median line and lack of aggressive turndown through the tips. Moderate chord lengths, that taper smoothly from the centre to the tips, encourage smooth, predictable but precise turning. Reduced foil thickness for enhanced top end to compliment the greater chords providing easy low end.
Many of these attributes are shared by the ARTPRO Range of wings, and in fact much of what we learned in the development of that line fed into the Spitfire’s make-up.
Through the development process, we put the Spitfire through its paces. The smaller sizes are fast with explosive turning. The larger sizes are great for smaller spots and larger riders. The Spitfires are versatile front wings, able to ride waves or flat water across prone, SUP, winging, wake, downwind, lake pumping and kite foiling disciplines. They do it all.
Spitfire foils are ideally matched with our Black Advance fuselage and Progressive or Skinny rear wing ranges.

NEW ARTPRO

The ART PRO 1401, really challenges the phrases, Bumps too small to go out… or, There’s not enough wind to get going…
Designed as a small-bump down-wind machine, the ART PRO 1401 excels in low-energy swells and light wind conditions. Opening up wing foiling in very light conditions, the ART PRO 1401 is really fast, barely slower than the ART PRO 1201 and turns incredibly well for such a large wing.

After the great reception the ART1099 received, it seemed obvious that we should build a bigger one. We swung into action with the intent of rolling out an ART1199… that’s where the 2-year ARTPRO odyssey began.
Not content to just scale up an already tried and true formula we went to work (our longest development cycle to date), testing countless iterations, all building on the success of the one before, the result we believe is something really special, so special in fact that collectively we decided it would herald in an entirely new range for AXIS, the ARTPRO’s.

Leading the charge is the ARTPRO 1201, designed for fast downwinding and bigger guys, but don’t get the wrong impression, this is the wing Dylan Bez prone paddled up for a World Record Marathon 3hr and 6min continuous Surf pump session (left his board shorts at home so went out in work shorts, he had to stop because it got dark? Averaging 18.8km/h and covering a whopping 58km in distance all without getting wet again)
The design requirements of the ARTPRO 1201, were unprecedented glide, fast and nimble feel, unparalleled large span turning, great breach control, crucial for a wing of this span and finally early lift and low stall speed.

If you’re a downwinder looking for that missing gear between the PNG1300 and the HPS1050, this is your wing.
If you’re a light-wind winger or heavier rider looking for a high-performance wing this is the wing for you.
If you’re a prone surfer wanting to link more waves in smaller conditions, this is the wing for you.

Based on our Black fuselage platform, ARTPRO 1201 will slot straight into your existing quiver, but really comes alive when paired with our Black Advance fuselages and our Skinny rear wings.

If you need screws for this wing, don’t forget to add a screwset to your order.

Fast high-performance wings, that offer a new level of performance potential for riders to exploit. While they deliver amazing performance characteristics, they are relatively easy for competent riders to excel on.
Each member of the ARTPRO Range is a wing in its own right, not simply scaled versions of its closest sibling. All the ARTPRO‘s share the following:

  • An extended elliptical outline.
  • A straight median line for better turning and control.
  • Narrower chords for lower drag overall.
  • Less overall turn down especially in the tips.
  • Less complicated shapes in general.
  • Lower drag foil section on the smaller versions.

ARTPRO foils are ideally matched with our Black Advance fuselage and Skinny rear wing ranges.

ART 1099 – so what’s so special about it? You’ve probably heard rumours about larger ART’s in development. We’ve certainly been inundated with enquiries and requests, but we took our time to get this one perfect, and we can’t be prouder.

With an Aspect Ratio of 10.6, the distinctive look of the ART family is taken to a whole new level, as is the performance.

The releases of the ART 999, 899 , 799 and 699  gave us the confidence to push the wing span and resulting aspect ratio limits further than ever before. With much subtle refinement in R&D, the AXIS ART 1099 has been richly rewarding us with outstanding results.

The glide is out of this world, endless, smooth and yet very fast for its size, but not at the expense of its ability to turn or pump. Low stall speeds and unexpected ease of use that characterise the smaller siblings in the ART range remains and are even enhanced on the ART 1099.

The ART 1099 once again proves that these reduced chord, high aspect wings are the most advanced, hydrodynamically efficient foil designs on the market today. When combined with an AXIS Carbon mast and AXIS Progressive rear wings, they provide the ultimate friction free ride.

A caution though, once you’ve ridden the ART 1099, it’s very difficult to be happy with anything else. The ART 1099 was not designed for Jumping.

The AXIS ART 899 sports incredible speed, great glide coupled with effortless pumping and carving. The 899 enjoy stall speeds far lower than similarly sized wings giving intermediate riders an accessible platform for learning to pump and will assure rapid progression.

The AXIS ART 699 Immediately after the release of the ART 899 and  Art 799 we started receiving requests for an even smaller ART, but rather than rushing one to the market, we paused.

We wanted to evaluate exactly how best to achieve that, who would benefit the most, and what conditions would it have to contend with.

The ART699 has considerably less tip turn-down than the larger ARTs. If you’re towing and prone surfing larger more powerful waves, winging in higher wind conditions or are a smaller/lighter rider, this is the ultimate controlled speed machine. Our team riders are generally using the ART 699 with an Advance Ultrashort, Crazyshort or Sillyshort fuselage and pairing it with a smaller Progressive rear like the250/58.

The AXIS HPS high performance series – Wing 1050mm – 980mm – 930mm  – 880mm – 700mm –  650 HPS – Carbon. The High Performance Speed (HPS) wings are FAST. Designed for the ultimate in performance, but yet still usable by most levels of riders. Since the HPS wings use a different foil section, with less camper, we developed a special fuselage that will accommodate all the HPS and future performance front wings. The HPS wings are the ideal performance wings for WINGING and DOWNWIND. High level riders they also SUP, PRONE, WAKE and WINDSURF foil the bigger sizes, while the smaller sizes are perfect for TOW, freestyle WINGING and KITE foiling. This is a new generation of front wings made for FAST performance riding, while it’s still stable and predictable with enormous amount of glide.
